iv’e been told by a friend of mine who is a personal trainer that to burn fat you need to get your heart rate up. so probably more higher intensity training i would guess. im trying to lose excess fat to lol its hard.

Either or both will work. You are ALWAYS using a mix of fat and carbohydrate as fuel.
Most athletes use a combination of high and low intensity in their training.
Obviously, you have to go for longer periods of time at low intensity to burn the same number of calories.
